Sports explanation

Why sport is important?
Introduction: Is sport important? I believe it is. Sport dates back to ancient times 760 BC to be exact and it is still here today. But why is it important? Well, Sport involves fun, it keeps you healthier and it develops your social skills. It is played across the globe but why is it so exciting.
Paragraph 1: Sport involves a substantial number of variety and it is played all around the world. I believe that is because it is fun. Why would anyone do it if they didn’t enjoy it? It is a great way to make friends and also helps you in other situations like the workplace or school. It is also great for your health.
Paragraph 2 : Exercise is great for you health. Its proven that sport can lower the risk of health diseases and help your brain functions become greater, and parts of your brain bigger but most importantly keep you at a healthy weight. Statistically over 86% of New Zealand adults over 15 are obese and NZ is also the third fattest country in the world. We are also the 14th laziest country in the world too.
Paragraph 3: Sports is a great way to build teamwork skills. Is also help children in their adolescent years grow their sympathetic and leadership skills. On the sports field you have to play with people you may and may not like and that is why sport is such a great way to learn, because no matter where you go or where you work there may be one person that you have to put up with.
Conclusion:In conclusion I believe that sport is great because it involves fun, keeps you healthy and makes you a nicer person. You don’t have to be the best player on the team but you have to try. After all Michael Jordan got kicked out of his school basketball team when he was in Highschool but now he is one of the best players in the world! Here are my reasons why sport is important. R2 the cleaning cat

R2 The Cleaning Cat
Once upon a time in the enclosed small town called Dobson there was a grey and white fat cat called R2. Although R2 is a fat cat he is very active. For nine years R2 has gone out every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night no matter the weather, to collect rubbish from the Paparoa Range School sausage sizzle that is hidden deep beneath the wooden school verandahs. Clasping it with his dainty mouth he carries it all the way back home, drops it on the sitting room carpet and lets out a dreadful “Meoooow,” as though he's caught a mouse.

Every morning his owner, Kim, wakes up to a colossal mountain of plastic sitting by one of her couches. Kim sighs then slowly but surely grabs a black glossy rubbish bag and drops all the plastic ice block wrappers and sticks, along with more rubbish into the black hole devouring the plastic substances.

One particular stormy night when the wild, vicious wind was booming past the dark midnight sky R2 crept into the empty school and slid underneath the rigid veranda. Just like usual R2 dug through the crumbly dirt to collect the plastic cemented beneath but this time there was someone that was there as well.

R2 knew there was someone there. He could hear little footprints scurrying around the brown gunk underneath. He dropped the rubbish that was perching in his sharp, white teeth, and slowly turned his furry neck to investigate the unknown drifter behind him.

The space was empty. There was nothing to be seen. “Hello!” he cried. Nothing appeared out of the dark rubbish mine. “I must of been hearing things there's nothing here.” R2 studied. Or so he thought… Buried underground three mighty rats barged through the dirt and faced the chubby cat. “ Who are you!” They bellowed “And what do you think you are doing in our territory” Readers you’d think that since cats eat mouses and rats these three bandits would be frightened of R2. But no, unlike their kind these particular rats were very big. So big in fact, they would be the same length as it is from your foot up to your knee. Thats a big rat! Anyway back to the story, now where were we? Oh yes I know nevermind! The three brutal rats crossed there rugged arms and got closer to the little cat. R2 stuttered “P P Please gentlemen I don’t mean any trouble, I only come here to collect the rubbish. Honestly that’s all I do!” They glanced at each other “Oh really… Well guess what. I don’t believe you!. Don’t worry there's a way to leave.” They said evilly. “ You know kick the can? Even if you don’t I don’t care we’re playing it. HAHAHAHAHA!”

R2 gulped. This was it, he had no choice, he had to play. The rats picked their biggest player. “Right the rules are easy first one to score wins. If the cat wins he's let free, but if the rat wins the cat’s our slave forever. Right, on your marks, get set, GO!” R2 did what he did best. He grabbed the can with his paw and whacked it into the wall flying past the rat looking oddly like a dirty potato. “GOAL!” He screamed. “ I’d love to stay but I have to get back to my owner. Sleep well and lose nice!” R2 wandered back to his house and squeezed his round stomach through the catflap and went to sleep.

Digital footprints

Hi everyone. This is my video about smart chatting and gaming online. This video has three tips about what is best to do when you are chatting  or gaming online. I use the read and write app so I did not have to talk to the computer because my voice sounds weird when it is videoed.

Paparoa Range badge task

During the year I have been working on my Paparoa Range Badge. A Paparoa Range badge is something that you work on through out the year with two tasks from all four of our school values. Perseverance, Creativity, Honesty and Respect. For this ask I had to improve my basic facts stage throughout the year. This year I improve my basic facts from stage 8 to stage 9. I think that stage 9 is harder than stage 8 because there are so many more questions but I will keep trying!
